Chit Chat

I haven't worked on anything yet today.  This is just some chit chat. First I want to say Happy Birthday our now 9 year old Granddaughter Bug!! MeeMee and Poppie love you Bug!!!
Also wanted to tell ya'll about my LSS Scrappin' Kats. Kathy is the owner and she is just awesome!! Anyone that can put up with me coming into their store, running my mouth, roaming around has to be pretty awesome!! She also has a blog: http://www.scrapinkats.blogspot.com/  Check it out! Right now she has some blog candy and Operation Write Home. Operation Write Home is just wonderful. She is sending a box of cards today and again on Sept. 1.  Send her 10 cards for the Sept. box and you'll get a free studio g stamp set! They want Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards for this box since it takes a little while for them to get them sent to our Servicemen and women.  Will start working on mine soon. I can use my Mini Monster cart!!! WooHoo!!! Check out all the details on Kathy's blog. Like I said, Kathy is just Awesome!!!
Next I want to tell ya'll about a giveaway over on Enfys blog http://going-buggy.blogspot.com/ CSN asked if she wanted to do a giveaway and she said yes. For us USA and Canadian folks it is a $60 gift certificate. Now, they don't sale crafty stuff but I looked around and I really liked their clocks. I need one for my Craft room. The one I have eats batteries for lunch!!
Well, guess that's all I need to run my mouth about right now. Need to get off my duff and get to crafting! Have some challenges to work on!! :)

Pirate Layout

This is the last for tonight. I'll get back to creating tomorrow when the next challenge recipe comes up. I have to tell you, I had to go the HL this evening. I broke the arm on my cutterpede. Broke it plum off!! It just about killed me to have to pay full price for it butttttttttt you know, when you use something everyday and it breaks, you got to replace it asap. No way could I wait maybe weeks for either them to go on sale or another 40% off coupon to come out. I've had that thing for years now and guess it could only take so much of my abuse!! LOL Anywhos, I've done another layout for http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/ challenge #5. 'Ahoy Matey!' is the quote this week where Sandra is our Paper Queen! You've gotten until midnight EST Sunday the 4th to come up with something, so hop to it and create for this challenge. I do have to tell you that I really was going to make a card and not a layout. I had everything laid out on my Gypsy and got to cutting and couldn't figure out why everything was sooooo big. Well, I don't know where my mind was when I was planning all of this, but it sure wasn't in my head! Everything was waaaaaaay to big for a card. So, I decided to do a layout. The only thing I recut was the tree. It really wasn't quite big enough, so I cut it bigger. My little pirate guy, his clothes, hair, map, sword and treasure chest are from Paper Doll Dress-Up.  The palm tree and sun I got from Create-a-Critter and the sand is from Everyday Paperdolls. I think it turned out pretty cute. I know I'll use it for some of the Grandsons pictures. Got some good ones at the birthday party this past Sunday. Hope ya'll like my layout!! :)
If you have time, check out the Genie Lamp card I did for BittenByTheBug2 challenge below this post.

My Wish

Well it's me again doing another new challenge. This time its at http://heather-bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com/ I really like the thought of doing something with the Genie Lamp from Paper Doll Dress Up that was requested as the challenge this week. Now, I have to tell you, those talented DT Ladies have come up with some awesome creations!! This one runs this week so hop over there and give it a whirl! I had a blast making my Genie Lamp card!! I used, of course, the genie lamp that is the accessories 2 key on pg. 39. I did the lamp and smoke and the pot of gold  from pg. 40, accessories 3. 'My Wish' was cut from Cindy Loo cart and the rainbow from Create-a-Critter. I cut half of it off to get it how I wanted on my card.  From my card, you can guess what 'My Wish' is!!!! LOL Hope ya'll like my card. :)
If you have time, check out what I did for the cuttlebug challenge below this post.

Big Impact

I've never tried one of the challenges over at http://cuttlebugchallenge.blogspot.com/ but decided to, well yesterday. It's due in by 11.59 pm tonight so I worked on my idea, and worked on my idea, got my card finished and it started storming here. Now I'm one of those that has the fear of lightning running in on my computer, so off it went and unplugged it and my computer is safe! LOL So I worked on other challenges last night and today. But here is the card I made for the cuttlebug challenge. You have to create your own 'Big Impact' project from small one inch pieces and your cuttlebug. So I decided on what to do and got on my Gypsy and created these 1 inch squares and dome piece from George and Basic Shapes cart. Now here is where I have to tell you that when you do 1 inch by 1 inch on your Gypsy, it doesn't come out that way when you cut them. They were not square at all!! I played around with it until I came up with the right measure to get a square. Oh, let me go get my Gypsy and I'll tell you the measure.......When you're waiting it takes forevvvverrrr!  Okay, they are 1.10 x 1.00. And I got a square. Go figure!! Anyways, I cut 3 of each color and ran them through my cuttlebug using the Tiny Mosaic folder. Them and the arch piece. Used a black pearl bling for the stone. The feet were printed from My Community cart. I flipped some of them so it would look like walking feet. The sentiment was computer generated. Hope ya'll like my card and hope it fits the theme of the challenge. :)

Bugs Birthday Card

Well, Bug will be 9 come next Wednesday and since her party is tomorrow(Sunday), I had to get her a card made. Now, she really loves Sock Monkeys. So MeeMee just had to make her a Sock Monkey card!! Since these new lite carts aren't ready for a Gypsy update yet, I cut without. Well, the Sock Monkey anyways. She is on the Sugar and Spice cart. I cut this little cutie at 5 1/2 inches with all her layers. I cut 2 sets of layers to get the colors I wanted. (Can't wait for the update!!!) The 'Happy Birthday' I did on my Gypsy. I used the font from Cindy Loo which I think is really nice. I welded my letters together, used a colored pearl for the dot on the i. Used some of the extra layers on the inside to tie the front and inside together. I love this sock monkey paper. When I found it, I just had to get it and all it's mates!! Lots of different ones! I bought extras. Bug is going to have so much fun making sock monkey stuff when she comes again!! Hope ya'll like my card. I really believe Bug will!! Have an awesome rest of the weekend! I know I will! Party time tomorrow!!!! LOL :)

made in USA

Over on http://jitterbugginchallenge.blogspot.com/ sketch #6, Sherri says to make a Patriotic Card by  following the sketch, use red, white and blue and add some stars. I didn't use my Gypsy on this one. She  was charging. I used Graphically Speaking cart for the 'made in USA' (used a red bling to dot the i), 'Independence', 'day' and the stars (blackout feature for stars). These are on pg. 43. I used the circle on pg. 50 to cut all  4 circles. The wagon is from the Independence Day cart. I popdotted the stars on the front. 'Freedom' on the inside was also cut from GS cart, pg. 43. Hope ya'll like my card. You have until Wed. 6/30 to make a card for this challenge, so how about hopping over and enter one!
If you have the time, look below at the wedding card I made for the challenge at cricutcardzchallenge. :)
I've also entered this card at http://www.myshericrafts.blogspot.com/ challenge where it is Patriotic week there. Anything Patriotic.

Wedding Card

This card was really hard for me to make. I don't think I have ever made a wedding card before!! Most of my friends are married and the kids at work better not be getting married any time soon! I really had to think hard on this when we were asked to make a wedding card for http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/ challenge # 30. I finally decided to use the shadow feature of Cinderella and Prince Charming on pg. 39 of the Happily Ever After cart and 'Dreams Come True' on pg. 77 of the Dreams Come True cart. When I got married, I know my dreams came true. I married the man of my dreams and he still is!! He puts up with me and my awesome hobby, all without complaining. At least he doesn't complain about to me!! LOL I used core'dinations Cardmaker Series Pearls in Pearly White cardstock. It is really thick. I picked it up at JoAnns when I was in Texas. I haven't finished the inside yet. I will when I get ready to give it to someone. I'll either do a sentiment or write a personal message. I did cut an extra rose and put it inside on the right bottom corner. I didn't take a picture of the inside, just the front. You need to check out this challenge. You have until Tuesday 6/29. Hope ya'll like my card. :)

DoodleCharms/Bug!

Hello Everyone! I had a wonderful time at my Sister's. But I'm telling you, Texas was hot!!! It's pretty hot here in Alabama, too! I took tons of pictures that I will scrap at some point. LOL I have a layout for you to see today. Now, I haven't made a layout in a very long time. I got started making cards and my scrapbooking took a backseat. A waaaaaay backseat! But over on http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/ challenge #4,where Sue is our Paper Queen this week, we are to make a card, layout, 3-D project or any paper craft project with the theme Bugs, Bees, Ants, or Ladybugs. And then over on http://creativetimeforme.com/ Throwback Thursday, Emma wants us to use Doodlecharms (if you have it) and do a 6x6, 8x8, 12x12 or a 2-pg. layout. I decided to combine these challenges because Doodlecharm has some cute bugs on it. I did an 8x8 layout. Used the jar on pg. 95. I used my Gypsy to hide the shadow line on the side of the jar. I cut it in a gray cardstock and a piece of clear plastic. I cut the firefly (pg. 93) and the beetle (pg. 92) from Doodlecharms. I used Waterfall Stickles on the body of the firefly. The butterflies, the one in the jar and the other 4, are two different MS punches. Used bling for the bodies of the butterflies and the eyes of the bugs. The square will be used for a picture. 'Bug' was cut from Jasmine. Also cut the shadows. I am going to use this as a pg. for our 'almost 9' yr. old Granddaughter. One of her nicknames is 'Bug'! The pearl I put on the tip of the g is her birth stone. She will be 9 on 6/30. I think this will be a great start for her birthday album.  Check out both of these challenges. You have until Sunday 6/27 to make something. I had so much fun making this! Hope ya'll like my layout. Have a fantastic day!!! :)

Vacation/PaperDoll DressUp

I combined 2 challenges when I did this card. http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/ challenge #29. Mary said to make a card with a vacation theme using any cartridge or colors you'd like by midnight EST, Tues. 6/22. Also using this card for Throwback Thursday at http://www.creativetimeforme.com/ Emma said if you have it, to use the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. This is due by midnight CST, Sunday 6/20. I made the little hula girl on pg. 42. She is so cute. Love that grass skirt! Everything I used (except for the hair from pg. 39), was from this pg. I designed it on my Gypsy. The tree I cut 3 times so I could get the different colors. Couldn't hide everything because it would have taken away the outline! I used one of the Peachy Keen Princess stamps for her face. Then I popdotted her on. Think it turned out pretty good.  Hope ya'll like my card. See ya'll next week! (Explained in post under this one) Have an awesome weekend!!! :)

I just love the pineapple!

Hometown USA

Hello Everyone! Bet ya'll are surprised to see me posting my card this early! LOL Well, I'm leaving at 5 am in the morning (Friday) heading to Texas with my Dad to visit my Sister and Brother-in-Law. I'm excited!!! They come home but I've only been out there once, like 20 something yrs. ago. They were in Austin then, now they are outside Dallas/Fort Worth. Won't be home 'til late late Tues. night. DH is gonna keep the homefront safe while I'm gone. Well, he'll take care of the pets! LOL This card is for http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/ challenge #3. Maria is our Paper Queen this week. The theme is 'Red, White and Blue' in honor of Flag Day this week. Of course, you may interpret this any way you like using one, two or all three colors. My card is 8 1/2x5 1/2. My front porch is cut from the Mini Monster cartridge (pg. 69).  I used the hide contour on my Gypsy and hid the roof part and only cut the 'porch'. On the cream background piece, I hid the rails so I could have a solid background. The I cut 3 white porches. On one I cut the front rails off and glued it to the bg piece. The other  2 I glued together. The chairs are from the My Community cartridge (pg. 28). I cut 1 in blue and 1 in red. Glued them to the bg piece and then popdotted the front of my porch on. The flowers are from Walk in My Garden cartridge (pg. 99). I used the border feature and it's shift. The banner's on the top of the porch and on the inside are from jolee's by You that I had picked up at Big Lots sometime last year. The 'Hometown USA' are stickers.  I had started out making another card, but didn't like it very much so I came up with this one. Like it much better. Hope ya'll like it, too!! Love to hear what ya think about it. :)
If you have time, peek down below this posting at the stuff our Granddaughter made when she was here. Thanks!!

Granddaughter's Creations

Told ya'll I'd put up some pictures from our wonderful Granddaughter's visit. These are all her creations. The only thing I helped her with is some inking (she said that was boring LOL) and I glued the paper layers on her cards. Everything else she did herself!! The paper on the pages of her mini album. All the punches, etc. She loved doing the punches!! She said it was cool to make the butterflies! And boy did she love the bling!!!  All of the little critters she put on her cards. She did the layers and all all by herself. She can now run the baby bug. She said she had fun and didn't want to go home. I really loved having her here and she'll be back to create again soon! Here are her creations. Hope ya'll like them and I'm sure she would love to see what ya'll think about them. :)

The Old Ladies Shoe!

Well, I managed to cover 3 challenges with one card again this week. Thank goodness since I'm behind again! LOL I did this card for http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/ #28, where Mary said to use a shoe, any cart, color & theme. You have 'til Tues. 6/15. Then over on http://jitterbugginchallenge.blogspot.com/
#4-flowers, Sherri wants you to follow the sketch, use complimentary colors (blue/orange, red(pink)/green or purple/yellow), add a cricut flower (doesn't have to be main image-just add a flower) and add some ribbon. Then over on http://www.creativetimeforme.com/ Emma is having her 2nd Throwback Thursday challenge. She said to use the 'Stretch Your Imagination' cart. but if you don't own this cart, use these colors:
brown, blue and red, in a project of your choice. This is due by Sunday 6/13.
I did a card 5 1/2x8 1/2. On the front the bottom green is cut at 5 1/4x 8 1/4, the middle green is cut at 4 3/4x5 3/4 and the blue behind the shoe is cut at 4 1/2x4. On the inside I cut the top green at 4 3/4x6 1/4.
I chose to use the shoe from 'My Community' cartridge. I pulled up shoes on my Gypsy and was looking at all there was and when I saw this one, I thought it was just perfect for a MeeMee of nine! I don't have the SYI cart yet (it's in the mail) so I went with the colors. I set everything up on my Gypsy. The shoe was cut at 4.05x3.94 in red twice. I hid the laces and cut the roof at 3.85x3.94 in brown twice. I hid the roof and cut the shoelaces in blue at 3.85x3.94 twice. I used a white chalk marker to do the highlights on the shoe. This can be found on pg. 22 of the handbook. I put both shoes together with the layers, pop dotted the bottom layer on and then pop dotted the top one onto it. Used a blue metal dot for the doorknob. Then I used Create-a-Critter for my flowers. These can be found on pg. 69 using the accessory key. I cut the reg. layer 4 times in green at 1.31x1.47 and then the shift for the buds 2 times in blue and 2 times in red at 1.23x1.59. I layered 2 each together to make 2 sets of flowers. One I pop dotted on the front and the other I glued on the inside. I used the sun from CAC also. Pg. 52. I cut it twice from the basic cut (no layers), then cut it to fit the corner above the shoe and pop dotted it on. Then I computer generated my sentiment, printed it on brown paper, cut it out and pop dotted it on. The ribbon is from Daisy Bucket Designs, Polka Dot Chocolate. Did 3 rows on front and one on the inside. I put blue metal dots on the front and red on the inside.
I hope you like this card. I'm really happy with how it turned out. DH seemed to like it also.
Thanks for visiting and looking. Love any little thing you might want to say. Really makes my day!
I've got another card under this one for paperplaytime's challenge. Be happy for you to look at it also!

The sentiment says,
'I'm not a real old lady. And I don't live in a shoe. But I do have nine Grandbabies. And I love them! Yes I do!!!'

Honor, Truth and Loyalty

I'm a little behind this week. I think I am every week aren't I? LOL Well, our (as she says) almost 9 yr. old Granddaughter was here most of the week. We crafted. I didn't get any of my stuff done, but we had such a wonderful time!!! I'll have to post pictures later.
This card is for http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/ challenge # 2 where Mary from CardzTV is playing the Paper Queen this week. This is due by midnight Alaska time Sunday 6/13. Mary used the quote inspired,
"Honor, Truth and Loyalty." You could interpret it any way you like. I did an 8 1/2x5 1/2 card,  I used the rocket from Independance Day Cartridge and my Gypsy. The rocket on the 3rd roll I cut 2 blue and 4 cream at 1.80x3.59. Then I hid the star on the 4th roll rocket and the little bit of spark and cut 2 in red at 1.32x3.71. Then I hid everything except the star and cut 8 stars at 1.32x3.71. I layered a red rocket on top of a cream rocket, cut the solid piece and the stem from a blue rocket and layered it on top of the red. I then cut the burst and string from one of the cream and layered that on and then used Star Dust stickles on the burst. I layered 2 stars together and put 2 sets on the solid blue, cutting off half of the one on the left. I then pop dotted one rocket to the front of my card. I had picked another paper for my top paper but saw last night that someone had used this paper so sent DH (he's such a dear!) to HL to get the paper that I used. I cut the first patterned paper at 8 1/4x5 1/4. The top layer at 7 3/4x4 3/4. (It looks like someones photo!) I used white glitter letter stickers for the 'Honor'. On the inside I also used a cream sheet that I cut at 7 1/4x4 1/4. I glued the other rocket here and used red and blue letter stickers for the 'Truth' and 'Loyalty'.
Hope you like my card. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a little comment. I really love hearing from ya'll! :)

Monkeys!!!

I really went outside of my normal box for this card. I've covered 3 challenges with this one though!!! First at
http://jitterbugginchallenge.blogspot.com/ Sherri's recipe is: follow sketch, use a monkey and use at least 3 types of patterned paper. This challenge ends Wed. 6/9.
Next at http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/ Mary said to make a Father's Day card using any cartridge and colors that you like. This challenge ends Tues. 6/8.
Last, but not least over at http://www.creativetimeforme.com/ Emma is having her first 'Throwback Thursday' challenge. She is going to be using older cartridges for her challenges. This first one is 'Animal Kingdom'. Of course, if you don't have this cart, Emma said to use any animal from any cart. This one ends Sun. 6/6.
I did a 5 1/2x8 1/2 card made from craft cardstock. I used 3 patterned cardstocks from DCWV Animal Crackers stack. The cuts are 5 1/4x8 1/4, 3x7 1/2 and 2x4. The brown piece is 3 3/4x5 1/4. Then I got to work with my Gypsy. I used the ape from 'Animal Kingdom', pg. 104, cut at 2.30x3.45 in a gray textured cardstock. Highlighted all the little cut spots on his body with a black marker and used aqua pearls for his eyes. Then I used the monkey from 'ZooBalloo', pg. 94, cut at 1.17x2.25 in tan and the lower/layer at .98x2.25 in brown. I cut 5 each of these two. I pop dotted my ape and my little monkeys. Attached some twine I cut to each monkey and then put another pop dot on and put them on my card, bringing the strings down to the ape's hand. 'Monkey Balloons!' I used 4 on the front and saved one for the inside. I cut a Shapablities Standard Tag in cream and stamped my sentiment on it. Pop dotted it to the front. The inside, I used only 2 of the patterned papers cut at 5 1/4x8 1/4 and 4 1/2x7 3/4. The brown is 4 1/4x7 1/4 and the cream is 3 3/4x6 3/4. This I will use to write something witty to my Dad on. I think he will like this card. My Mom now is a different story. She may not think it looks at cute as I think it turned out. She'll let me know! Hope you all like my card.  :)

Groovy

This is my card for the first challenge at  http://paperplaytime.blogspot.com/  Janis said Groovy. Okay, I was born sometime in the second half of the 50's so the 60's, 70's were my time but I couldn't come up with anything. I keep singing Feelin' Groovy over and over in my head hoping inspiration would hit. Duh....the song!!! I got on google and typed it in so I could listen to the whole thing. Simon and Garfunkel were so popular back then. The lamppost part just hit me! So.....my card!
I did an 8 1/2x5 1/2 card. Bottom pattern layer is 8 1/4x5 1/4, the middle pattern layer is 7 3/4x4 3/4 and the white top layer is 7 1/x4 1/4. I used my Gypsy.
I cut the lamp post from the Heritage cartridge 3 times at 1.50x6.53. I layer 2 pieces and popdotted them to the third which I glued to the card front. I used orange peel stickles in the cut out part of the lamp.
The tulips are the border cut from pg. 99 from the Walk in my Garden cartridge. I cut it 4 times each at 1.60x1.90 and 2.09x2.49. Then I did the shift key and did 2 times each of pink, purple, yellow and orange in each of the same sizes as the border to get my flower colors. I popdotted the larger ones to my card and glued the smaller on top of them. I used 3 sets each on front and 1 for the inside. I punched some butterflies using my MS punch from the patterned papers I used in my layers. Blinged them with purple pearls. What's a butterfly without a little bling huh?!
I used my computer to do the verse from the song: Hello Lamppost What'cha knowin' I've come to watch your flowers growin' Ain'tcha got no rhymes for me? Do do do do Feelin' groovy
I did everything in black at Hobo BT font 16 and the groovy in purple Hobo BT font 26.
I hope you like my card. It was really fun making this one. Kept singing Feelin' Groovy, over and over and over and over..........! :)
